We are excited to announce the launch of the Reuse Network Social Impact Report 2024, which highlights the incredible work of our members across the UK. This year, despite facing financial pressures, the reuse sector has continued to make a tangible difference, providing essential goods, creating employment and volunteering opportunities, and contributing to a more sustainable future.
Key Highlights from the 2024 Report:
Together with reuse charities across the UK, we’ve:
- Reused 2.55 million furniture & electrical items
- Supported 1.5 million households
- Saved low-income households £321.2m
- Saved 92,566 tonnes of CO₂ emissions
A growing demand for affordable goods
The demand for affordable, second-hand goods continues to rise, especially for low-income households facing the pressures of the cost of living. Member charities are stepping up to meet this need, ensuring that households across the UK can access the items they need to create sustainable homes, while also reducing their environmental impact.
The power of reuse
The reuse sector is not just about providing essential goods – it’s about fostering a circular economy, reducing waste, and helping communities thrive. By reusing, recycling, and repurposing furniture and electrical items, we’re helping build a more sustainable, equitable society.
Through your ongoing support and donations, we’re able to help more people and contribute to a cleaner, greener environment. In 2024, the sector continues to show resilience, and the impact is felt more than ever.
What’s next?
Looking ahead, Reuse Network will continue to advocate for policy changes that support reuse charities and call for greater cross-sector collaboration to boost reuse and tackle some of the country’s most pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges. We believe that, together, we can create a world where everyone has access to affordable goods to create a sustainable home.
