The Appliance Recycling Group – a market leading Waste Electrical and Electronic (WEEE) reuse company – announces Reuse Network as its chosen charity partner for 2024.
The partnership will see The Appliance Recycling Group donate appliances totalling £100,000 in social value to Reuse Network members across the UK.
The two organisations have worked together since 2021 on the reuse and supply of electrical appliances to reuse charities across the country. In 2023 alone, the Appliance Recycling Group supported six reuse charities by donating 261 white goods, which helped 209 households save nearly £40,000 compared to buying these items brand new.
Speaking on the items donated by The Appliance Group in 2023, Natalie Mann, Finance Manager at Milton Keynes-based charity Reuse MK said,
“These collections have made a massive difference to our project and the fight against furniture poverty.
Not only have we been able to provide members of our community with affordable white goods, but it has also enabled us to donate items free of charge to those most in need.”
Shining a spotlight on the impact of reuse
By focusing on the social value of its donated items, The Appliance Recycling Group is aiming to shine a spotlight on the impact of reused products which goes beyond environmental and economical. Through the reuse of appliances, reuse charities help low-income households create sustainable homes. In addition, reuse charities and social enterprises provide advice, support and opportunities, helping the most marginalised and vulnerable members of their communities tackle issues ranging from debt to unemployment.
With this strengthened partnership Reuse Network and The Appliance Recycling Group look to support even more households access the items they need to create a sustainable home in 2024.
James Farmer, Managing Director at The Appliance Recycling Group, said:
“The work that the team at Reuse Network are doing really resonates with The Appliance Recycling Group. I was thankful to have worked on the board of a Reuse Network member in 2023, and the work that reuse charities do to protect and support society’s most vulnerable should not be taken for granted – charities are businesses and cashflow is key in ensuring that these charities can continue supporting local people.
James continues: “Through our strategic donations model, this agreement will see a regular supply of stock for Reuse Network members. The commercial value of this commitment is more than £250,000 per annum, which equates to £100,000 of social value worth. The aim of this agreement is not only to supply much-needed stock to Reuse Network’s valued members but also to get the tills ringing which in turn will support even more people.
We are proud to support Reuse Network, playing our small part, and enjoying all of its successes”
Hannah Jordan, Commercial Manager at Reuse Network, said:
“Having The Appliance Recycling Group choose us as one of their charity partners for 2024 is fantastic news for the Reuse Network and our members. The support of The Appliance Recycling Group has already proven invaluable to us through the social impact the donations have on local communities. Despite the current climate, the reuse sector continues to step-up to ensure that low-income households have access to the affordable items they need to live comfortably.
We are looking forward to seeing this partnership grow in 2024 through the reuse of white goods items which will contribute to building a society where everyone can create a sustainable home.”
Reuse Network supports a network of charitable organisations across the country who are dedicated to reuse. Each year the network diverts millions of household items from landfill, helping to reduce carbon emissions and assisting low-income households in gaining access to affordable goods.
