Reuse Network Annual Conference 2021: awards nominations now open

Posted on the 24th September 2021

We are delighted to share that nominations for the Reuse Network Annual Conference awards are now open. This year the awards have been kindly sponsored by Domestic & General and there are three awards up for grabs. The award categories this year are:

Volunteer of the Year

This award recognises a volunteer who has either improved themselves or gone above and beyond for their organisation in 2020/21. These achievements can be personal or professional and could vary from someone who has volunteered their time and helped an organisation improve in some capacity, to a person who has changed their own life through the work they have done for an organisation. Courtesy of the awards sponsor, Domestic & General, the three shortlisted volunteers will be invited to attend the conference and Gala Dinner, and stay overnight, free of charge and will get to find out who the winner of the award is, in person. It is with thanks to Domestic & General’s sponsorship that these volunteers will get to experience the conference for themselves.

Outstanding Community Response

This award is voted on by a panel of judges and will celebrate an organisation that made a significant contribution to its community in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether it be diversifying services to meet the changing needs of the community, creating online services when lockdown was imposed, or innovative ways to support members of the community through the pandemic. This award is wide ranging and will recognise an organisation for its ability to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reuse Organisation of the Year

Voted on by member charities and the public, this award will go to a reuse charity/ social enterprise who has made a great achievement in the past year. This can be an environmental accomplishment, for example an impressive increase in the amount of items re-used. A social success, for instance helping more people, or a group of previously neglected people who are now being reached thanks to a new idea. Or a general triumph, for example opening of a new site or pop-up shop that has been a great success. This award is different to the Outstanding Community Response in that the achievements aren’t related to lockdown or COVID-19 response activities.

To make a nomination, please email info@reuse-network.org.uk to request the awards nomination forms. The deadline for nomination applications is Friday 15 October.

The awards ceremony will take place after the Gala Dinner at the Reuse Network Annual Conference on 11 November.
