REUSE announces today that Stephen Cawley, previously Head of Sustainability at John Lewis & Partners until 2020, and a member of its Board of Trustees since January 2020, has been appointed the new Chair of the Board. Effective from the 27 January AGM, Cawley succeeds Silv Ingram of Castle Enterprise Scotland Ltd, who remains as vice-chair after serving many years as Chair.

Stephen Cawley says: “I feel very privileged to take on this role at such an exciting time for the sector — the needs of REUSE members and those they support are changing rapidly. REUSE is facing into these changes in thoughtful and innovative ways which will benefit all REUSE members for years to come”.

Cawley brings more than 30 years’ retail experience working in various disciplines including global supply chain management, circular economy, materiality and risk management, sustainable product development, procurement, change management, external communications and CSR reporting.

In addition, between 2014 and 2018, he worked within local government, where he delivered programmes that focused on improving customer service and organisational transformation.

Stephen also has a reputation as a motivational and inspiring leader with a proven track record of developing high-performing teams.

Craig Anderson, REUSE CEO says: “I am delighted to welcome Stephen as new Chair of the Board. His wealth of experience in the retail and sustainability sector is a huge asset to the charity. I am looking forward to working closely with Stephen, as well as with the rest of the board to better serve our members and supporting them to alleviate poverty and tackle climate change.”

The new Board constituted at the January 27 AGM consists of Stephen Cawley (Chair), Graham Harrison, Silv Ingram (Vice-Chair), Julian Price, Mike Wheatley (Treasurer), Michael Bertram, Peter Everett, Michael Jeal, Martin MacLeod, Richard Northall, Nicci Peck, Ali Ward, and Bob Whitehead.
