Reuse Network members Emmaus North Staffs have partnered with children’s bed charity Zarach to launch a new Stoke-on-Trent hub supporting vulnerable local families.
Zarach are partnering with several charities to support children and families who are living in poverty crisis by providing a bed, mattress, duvet, pillow, bedding, pyjamas and hygiene pack.
Tackling Child Bed Poverty
The partnership with Zarach builds on the work Emmaus North Staffs have already been doing to bring lasting and positive change to children growing up in the grips of poverty crisis through their Beds for Kids campaign.
Emmaus North Staff’s Executive Lead, John Webbe said:
“We’re delighted to be partnering with children’s bed charity Zarach to cement our work in ending bed poverty in and around Stoke-on-Trent. No child should sleep on the floor, it’s heart-breaking and we want to change this.
“This collaboration will ensure we continue providing families with beds, a basic life necessity, but one that is sadly unaffordable for families struggling to make ends meet during these difficult times.
“Having very little sleep, or no sleep, can have a serious effect on all of us, and even more so the physical and mental development of a young child in their formative years.
“We speak to hundreds of families each month, and for a child to be able to have their own comforts has such a positive impact in so many ways and transforms their lives for good.”
Zarach’s National Development Manager, Jess Sandy said: “It is our mission to end child bed poverty in England. We are, therefore, thrilled to be partnering with Emmaus North Staffs to launch our Stoke-on-Trent Hub.
“Through a network of local schools, we will provide beds to children experiencing bed poverty. The bed will enable them to get a good night’s sleep, giving them the opportunity to engage in school and a chance to break the cycle of poverty.”
Leeds-based children’s bed charity Zarach has partnered with a number of organisations to give #EveryHeadABed around the country.
