Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering. Every year organisations around the country come together to celebrate the incredible work that volunteers do every day to support their communities both locally and nationally – this year is the 38th annual celebration which is held every year between 1-7 June.
Volunteers’ Week is about taking the time to thank volunteers in a different way, whether it is sharing stories on social media, organising a special event, or sending a card. Throughout the week our fantastic network of charities each celebrated Volunteers’ Week in their own special way, and got on board with this year’s theme of ‘A Time to Say Thanks’!
The team over at Pembrokeshire FRAME offered free activities for any volunteers working in its local community. The activities included Thai Chi, macrame and furniture painting and offered a fun way to connect with other volunteers in the area and try a hand at something new. The charity said that the activities were a chance to “recognise all of those who have continued delivering vital work as volunteers over the past 12 months”.
Over in the north of England, FRADE organised a BBQ for its volunteers, staff and trustees to come together and celebrate the dedications and achievements of volunteers across the organisation.
Across social media, our timelines have been filled with so many inspiring stories from volunteers who are sharing their time with reuse charities to help create a better and brighter future for all. Volunteers come in all shapes and sizes and choose to volunteer for all kinds of reasons, and it’s been great finding out about all the people who support our network of charities.
Although Volunteers’ Week is drawing to a close, the hard work carried out by volunteers continues and we want to take the chance to say a huge THANK YOU from the whole team here at Reuse Network to each and every one of the volunteers who are working with our charity members across the country to help people create a sustainable home.
